The short version: We collect only what we need to run the service. We do not sell your data to anyone. Your session conversations are confidential. You can request deletion of your account and data at any time.

1. Who We Are

Melo Technologies Pvt Ltd ("melo", "we", "our", or "us") operates the melo platform — an online marketplace connecting users with trained mental wellness companions (hosts) for supportive conversations. Our registered office is in India. This Privacy Policy applies to all users of the melo website and any services we provide.

By using melo, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the platform.

2. Information We Collect

Information you give us directly

Account details: full name, email address, phone number
Profile information provided when you sign up or update your account
Payment and wallet information (top-up amounts, transaction history)
Messages and conversations exchanged during sessions with hosts
Feedback, reviews, or support requests you submit
Application details if you apply to become a host

Information collected automatically

Session metadata: start time, end time, session duration, host selected
Browser type, device type, and operating system
IP address and approximate geographic region
Pages visited on melo and how you interact with them

Information from third parties

We use Supabase (a cloud database and authentication provider) to store your account data and session records. Supabase processes data on our behalf and is bound by data processing terms consistent with this policy.

3. How We Use Your Information

To create and manage your account and authenticate you securely
To connect you with hosts and facilitate real-time session conversations
To process wallet top-ups and session charges accurately
To display your session history, transcripts, and transaction records to you
To send important service communications (e.g. session confirmations, receipts)
To investigate disputes, enforce our Terms of Service, and prevent fraud or abuse
To improve the platform — understanding which features are used and where users encounter problems
To comply with applicable laws and regulatory requirements in India

We do not use your session conversation content for advertising, training AI models, or any purpose other than delivering and improving the service to you.

4. Session Confidentiality

Your conversations with hosts are private. Session messages are stored securely and are accessible only to you, the host you spoke with, and melo staff in limited circumstances (e.g. a formal complaint or legal obligation). We do not share session transcripts with any third parties except as required by law.

Hosts are bound by confidentiality obligations as part of their agreement with melo. They are not permitted to disclose, screenshot, or share any content from your sessions.

Please be aware that no digital communication is 100% immune to security risks. We implement industry-standard safeguards but cannot guarantee absolute security.

5. Sharing Your Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. We share data only in the following limited circumstances:

With hosts: When you initiate a session, the host sees your display name and the messages you send during that session. They do not see your phone number, email, or wallet balance.
Service providers: We use Supabase for database and authentication infrastructure, and Vercel for hosting. These providers process data on our behalf under strict terms.
Legal obligations: We may disclose information if required by a valid court order, government authority, or applicable law in India.
Business transfers: If melo is acquired or merges with another company, user data may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify users and give them the opportunity to delete their accounts beforehand.

6. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored on Supabase infrastructure hosted on servers in the AWS ecosystem. We implement the following protections:

Row-Level Security (RLS) on all database tables — you can only read and write your own data
All data in transit is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS
Authentication tokens are handled securely and expire after inactivity
Wallet top-ups are processed through server-side functions — no direct database writes from the client
Passwords are never stored — we use OTP (one-time password) based authentication

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

7. Your Rights

As a user of melo, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
Correction: Ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data
Deletion: Request deletion of your account and associated data
Portability: Request your data in a structured, machine-readable format
Objection: Object to certain uses of your data (e.g. analytics)

8. Cookies & Tracking

melo uses minimal browser storage. We store an authentication token in your browser's local storage to keep you logged in between sessions. We do not use advertising cookies, third-party trackers, or fingerprinting tools.

We may use basic analytics (e.g. page views, feature usage) collected without personally identifying information to understand how the platform is being used.

9. Children's Privacy

melo is intended for users who are 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we become aware that a minor has created an account, we will promptly delete the account and associated data. If you believe a minor is using the platform, please contact us immediately.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For material changes, we will notify users via email or a prominent notice on the platform. Continued use of melo after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
